Pegasus Theater Company
Our Mission
Pegasus is a non-profit West Sonoma County theater company founded in 1998 with the mission of producing thought-provoking theater that reflects, entertains and enriches the diverse community it serves. Pegasus performs in venues in and out of the lower Russian River area.
Our company strives to offer many ways people can expand their lives through the magic of theater. Pegasus has always offered workshops and classes to encourage local residents to gain theatrical skills and to participate in the company as well as attend and support our shows.
Tapas, consisting of 7 ten-minute plays, is as always a hugely entertaining kaleidoscopic theatrical experience. In one play, an airline passenger receives an upgrade to 1st class (his first time ever in 1st class!) and encounters a highly unusual, provocative seatmate. In another, a seemingly unqualified applicant for a job more than proves her worth. And in another, Russia shows how much it really regrets having abandoned Fort Ross before realizing the value of the Russian River Valley for producing premier wine.
As an all-volunteer company, Pegasus has no paid staff. Even so, we've been able to produce outstanding productions, thanks to the talents and energy of our creative and dedicated volunteers.
Pegasus History
Pegasus Theater was formed in 1998 by a group of experienced theater folk living in the Russian River area. The intention: to present quality plays; to develop theater audiences in Sonoma County; to aspire to a high level of artistic achievement, to provoke, to move, to entertain and to have fun doing it! Over the past fifteen years we have produced a wide range of plays, contemporary and classical. And in recent years we have turned our attentions to developing new playwrights and nurturing their work.
