Lincoln Theatre Company is a non-profit California public benefit corporation. We have partnered with the City of Lincoln under City Council Resolution 2014-209 to create a community performing arts and event center in the historic Lincoln Civic Auditorium.
The Civic Auditorium was built in 1921 as the community’s cultural center. It was converted to serve the needs of various city office and organizations, losing its original purpose. Efforts began several years ago restoring the exterior and a portion of the interior of the building, but much more needs to be done so it can serve the community’s needs. The Lincoln Theatre Company has begun the task.
Performing arts benefits a city both culturally and economically. It brings people to town for the theater and an overall experience. They walk the streets, have a meal, have a drink, purchase gas and generally patronize the area before and after attending the theater. This will be true in our own downtown Lincoln.
Our Board of Directors is working tirelessly to raise funds for this project. You donations and participation can help make a place for live performances, children’s theater and other community events.
The Lincoln Theatre Company Choristers is an intergenerational adult secular choral group composed of singers from all of Lincoln and vicinity. The Choristers is open to capable singers, generally age 18 or older, who are willing to be challenged and give a commitment of time and effort to the group. (Exceptions to the minimum age requirement may be made at the discretion of the Director.) The Choristers’ home base is the Lincoln Civic Auditorium (home of the Lincoln Theatre Company), but it may also perform in other venues in and near Lincoln.
Eric and Candy Rainwater, a talented husband and wife team of musicians, are the Choristers’ director and accompanist, respectively. The Rainwaters are well known in the greater Sacramento area for a variety of musical abilities. They lead children and youth choruses, vocal and instrumental music workshops, dramatic musical productions, and teach private lessons.
The Lincoln Theatre Company Junior Choristers is a group of young people ages 9 to 17 from Lincoln and the surrounding region. Participation in this program is open to anyone age 9 to 17 who is able to sing on pitch and interested in having a great time.
