Mission Statement

MYACT was formed with the merge of Sonora Children's Theatre and Meyer Hideout to provide more opportunities for children, youth and adults in our community to become involved in theatre, music and dance.

Meyer Hideout was Co-Founded by John Williams and Kyla Meyer in 2004. Kyla had a dream of bringing Musical Theatre to the youth of her community, and with the help of John Williams, she was able to make her dream a reality. The first summer brought bright new faces and lots of potential; and Hideout has not stopped growing since.

Kyla is a Twain Harte Native and has had a passion for the arts from the time she was a child. John Williams is the Owner and Lead Pharmacist at Bob's Greenley Pharmacy in Sonora, CA. John has served as a Youth Director in various church programs, as well as a Past President of MYACT.

Spotlight On...

Executive Director

Raquel Ruelas

Raquel Ruelas has worked as an actor, director, and youth instructor for nine years. She was born and raised in the Central Valley and has worked mainly in that community. Raquel received her BA in Theatre Arts from CSU Stanislaus and completed an MA in Staging Shakespeare from the University of Exeter, U.K. She has worked as a youth instructor teaching various subjects including: improvisation, stage combat, commedia dell’arte, and Shakespeare studies. Along with being involved at MYACT, she is one of the founding members of Light Box Theater Company in Turlock, CA that specializes in children’s theater programs and the Artistic Director at Murphys Creek Theatre.

MYACT SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM

Our summer program consists of daily theater lessons including, improv, acting techniques, movement, dance, and activities along with rehearsals for the performance that will end the summer and show off all their performance skills!

For ages 8-18.
